Silver & Riley continues the commitment to supporting minority owned businesses with a second round of grants awarded through their Buy 1, Give 5 program. This round focused on businesses started less than two years ago by black women founders. This specific focus was chosen due to the difficulty this group has in securing other grant funds as most grant programs stipulate that businesses must be over two years old to qualify.
On average, minority business owners have a median net worth 12 times higher than those who do not own businesses.
We Can Work It Out Inc. operates with a mission to empower young people by providing programs that cultivate entrepreneurship, leadership, and resilience. The organization’s flagship program, "Innovate & Impact", is a youth-focused entrepreneurship incubator designed for underserved African American youth and young adults in Sacramento, California. This program offers a structured environment where participants can develop essential business skills, receive mentorship, and explore pathways to economic independence.
Through hands-on training, workshops, and one-on-one coaching, youth gain practical skills in areas like financial literacy, business planning, and market research. Additionally, the program connects participants with local mentors and community leaders, fostering a support system that encourages leadership development and builds resilience against systemic challenges. By emphasizing real-world applications and community-focused business projects, We Can Work It Out Inc. aims to break cycles of economic disadvantage, empowering youth to become entrepreneurs and positive agents of change within their communities.
